At about 1915 hours, the fire brigade was alerted for a fire in a shed with agriculture (farming) machinery and oil. When firemen were busy to start firefighting a gas cylinder exploded. One of the firemen, who was in front of the shed at a distance of about 5/m, was hit by a fragment of the exploded cylinder, which blew through an alumunium door. A part of his right leg was torn off and the wound was bleeding profusely. The 44-year-old fireman, who was taken to hospital, was released after a week.
Rond 19.15 uur rukte de brandweer met 2 tankautospuiten en een OVD uit naar een uitslaande brand in een schuur met landbouwwerktuigen en olie. Juist op het moment dat de brandweer wilde beginnen met blussen, ontplofte in de schuur een gasfles. Een 44-jarige brandweerman, die zich op ongeveer 5 meter afstand van de schuur bevond, raakte ernstig gewond aan zijn been. Een scherf van de gasfles rukte namelijk een deel van zijn rechterbeen af. In het ziekenhuis aangekomen, had hij inmiddles tweederde van zijn "bloedvoorraad" verloren.
De brandweerman had net een hogedrukslang uitgerold, toen de gasfles met een enorme steekvlam explodeerde.
Nadat hij een week in het ziekenhuis had gelegen, mocht de brandweerman weer naar huis.
